From the newest of the rookies, to the oldest of the old boys, we tend to snap up any movie or game video we can get our hands on. Of course, this means our loved ones have to endure it as well, as their computer or TV time gets pushed aside for the "Harlequins on Time Warner Sports", the Tri Nations or British Lions tours, and any of the professional matches that somehow cracks the 500 channels of reality TV paraded before us on a weekly basis. Rarely, however, has there been a focus on the the 'new awakening' of USA rugby. Often pushed to the shadows of other sports (particularly soccer), and with fields in the lowest drainage point in most park systems, love for our sport spreads mostly by word of mouth.
Occasionally, a rugby movie, or a movie with rugby scenes crack the silver screen. Now Paul Simko, a coach for a youth team in California, the Peninsula Seahawks Junior High Team (and a rugby old boy), has teamed with an award winning filmmaker for the over 3 years to produce a documentary about the last 130 years of rugby in the United States. This ambitious project is titled "A Giant Awakens ". Of course this venture does cost money and Paul himself says it best... "This film is the perfect recruiting film for coaches. It celebrates the incredible amount of volunteer hours that we give to our passion. I also believe this film has the ability to bring new sponsors to the game of rugby. We are in final approval stages with all of the powers that be. I am looking for a presenting sponsor for the film. This sponsor would want to be associated with Americana, the Olympic Games, and the World Cup. Notice I never had to say the word rugby! This film will have very broad appeal. The film was recently rated a 4.3 out of 5 among a split crowd of rugby and non rugby people. Please let me know if you have marketing connections at very large businesses! To increase search engine optimization (google ranking), I would ask that each of you add this link to your teams/leagues websites. We will add your sites to ours as well.
Please

If you are on facebook, become a fan- http://www.facebook.com/home. Pass this along to your friends. Register on the site for updates. Sign the Olympic petition if you haven’t already. 20% of the profits from the film go back to USA Rugby to support youth development. Hopefully we will make you proud. Time to make a big impact on America. Cheers! Paul So there it is people. We have a chance to show the world that we can and will be a power in this sport of warriors and friends.
